I've found that much of the art that resonates with me causes a strong visceral reaction, and my instinct is to want to touch the work. Here I've used combinations of materials with inherently tactile properties. By referencing touch, there arises a suggestion of intimacy. That suggestion can evoke a multitude of responses ranging all the way from from attraction to repulsion.

Formally, I enjoy the challenges of integrating materials of contrasting textures or surfaces, and opening and extending the traditionally two dimensional picture plane into the third dimension.
